Day 1
Our adventure begins! Board the bus with your coffee and pastries as we head west. First stop: the nostalgic Sprague’s Super Service Station for classic Route 66 vibes. Lunch at Doc’s Off 66, then stretch your legs on the historic Chain of Rocks Bridge. End the day strolling the vibrant murals of Cuba, Missouri, before settling in for a cozy evening together. Missouri Magic
We start with a quick stop at the iconic Buc-ee’s for snacks and souvenirs, then step back in time at Red Oak II, a living museum of Route 66 history. Afternoon highlights include Joplin, where you’ll see Bonnie & Clyde’s hideout, Grand Falls, and whimsical 3D street art. Cruising Oklahoma
Today, Route 66 treasures abound! Pose with the legendary Blue Whale of Catoosa, visit Mickey Mantle’s boyhood home, and tour the grand Coleman Theatre. Overnight at the historic Mayo Hotel in Tulsa—an elegant stay that makes you feel like you’re in a classic movie scene. Mayo Hotel. B, L
Texas
Fun, quirky stops await! Explore Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios, enjoy a homemade treat at the Rock Café, and marvel at Pop’s 66 with its 700 soda flavors. We arrive in Amarillo for a legendary dinner at the Big Texan Steak Ranch—famous for its 72-ounce steak challenge (or a much more manageable portion!) The Cactus Cove Inn and Suites B, D.
On the Way to Albuquerque
Time to leave your mark at the iconic Cadillac Ranch, then enjoy a coffee stop at the famous Midpoint Café (halfway between Chicago and LA!). We continue to Albuquerque with a visit to the Balloon Museum, gearing up for the weekend’s fiesta excitement. Hilton Garden Inn ABQ Downtown. B, D
Balloon Festival
Rise early for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta®! Watch the sky fill with hundreds of colorful balloons during the Mass Ascension while enjoying breakfast and coffee with the group. The aweinspiring scenes, perfect for photos, make this a memory you’ll treasure forever. Today there is an optional not included Ballon Ride in the morning. Albuquerque & Santa Fe
Santa Fe along the scenic Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway. Enjoy the stunning rock outcroppings, piñon- and juniper-covered hills, and quirky small towns along the route. Take a guided walking tour of historic Santa Fe, including the Plaza, St. Francis Cathedral, and the Loretto Chapel with its famous “miraculous” staircase. Learn about Santa Fe’s rich history as the last stop on the Camino Real, the Royal Road linking Mexico City to the northern Spanish territories. Return to Balloon Fiesta Park for the magical Special Shape Glowdeo™. The Trek Back
